Key messages

1) In the majority of European countries the size of the working age population increased.

2) However, in more than 25% of the regions the potential labour force declined, particularly
in Germany but also in regions in the Bulgaria, Denmark, Hungary, Sweden and UK.

3) Regions with the highest decrease in the labour force are located in Bulgaria and
East Germany.

4) Regions with high potential and strong increase in terms of working population are mainly found in France, Iceland, Ireland, Poland and Spain.
